Description

The Oconee River was running extremely high on September 17, 2004, following Hurricane Ivan. Alicia Stramiello, 20, a student at the University of Georgia, was running the river in a raft with friends when it flipped at a pipe which stretches across the river. One rafter reached shore and called authorities; the other three were stuck on a debris pile in midriver. A witness saw Ms. Stramiello disappearing under the water. Her body was found two days later, still trapped under the pipeline. http://www.redandblack.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/09/20/414e37eb80c97 http://www.13wmaz.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=7529 http://tinyurl.com/a85ux http://tinyurl.com/8n3snhttp://www.redandblack.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/09/20/414e37eb80c97
