TEXT ATTACHMENTS http://www.charleston.net/news/2007/may/24/dna_identifies_remains_found_on_hunting_island_a/ There was an earlier story when the 1st man was found. From Post and Courier: Stephen Lee’s family had said goodbye to the 27-year-old with a memorial service a week after he disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean. On Wednesday, they received official confirmation of his death. DNA tests showed that his remains had washed up on Hunting Island State Park in Beaufort County earlier this month, Deputy Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said. Lee set out on a tandem kayak from Seabrook Island with his brother-in-law Jeremy Scott around 3:30 p.m. May 8. Lee and Scott, 28, intended to stay close to shore but were swept out to sea when a storm rolled in. Scott, of Atlanta, clung to the kayak 18 hours before Coast Guard crews rescued him off Fripp Island in Beaufort County, authorities said. Lee’s remains were discovered May 11. The men were visiting the area with their pregnant wives. Friends remembered Lee as a fun-loving man looking forward to the birth of his first child. He had recently started a new job with Southern Cal Transport in Birmingham, Ala. He was born in Raleigh, N.C., and grew up in Marietta, Ga. He graduated from The Citadel in 2001 with a degree in business management. His parents live in Mount Pleasant. Reach Noah Haglund at 937-5550 or nhaglund@postandcourier.com.
