Description

Non-Witness Narrative by ccw on 2007-06-01 (okay to publish): 05-28-07 KENDALL COUNTY, TX Army Colonel Drowns During Canoe Trip woai.com (05-30-07) An army colonel died after he was swept away by high waters in the Hill Country. Col. Clifford Walker was enjoying a canoe trip at Cibolo Creek with his 13-y/o son when the accident happened. Although both Walker and his son had life jackets on, they decided to paddle back before they approached Herff Falls. But the raging waters proved to be too much for them. The canoe flipped and both were thrown into the creek. Walker’s son managed to swim to shore, but Walker disappeared in the fast-moving waters. Troopers, game wardens, and even a Blackhawk helicopter helped search for Walker. After nearly 3 hr., the colonel’s body was found tangled in debris about a mi. downstream. Co.l Walker was also a veterinarian and a decorated officer who served in Iraq. He leaves behind a wife and 4 children. http://www.woai.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=a250edd1-4ac8-4d59-a500-1f84e210e7e8
