Description

Andrew drowned in a tragic accident while on an organized camp rafting trip in Tennessee. We have been informed by our rafting trip company, “Big Frog Expeditions”, that experienced guides were in every raft, as per our protocol, and all participants were wearing their helmets and life jackets. Nevertheless, the raft overturned and Andrew was unable to get to the surface. CPR was administered on site but staff and EMT officers were unable to revive him.” Teen drowns while rafting in Ocoee RiverPosted June 19, 2011 COPPERHILL (AP) – Tennessee officials say a 14-year-old boy has drowned while rafting on the Ocoee River.Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency spokesman Dan Hicks told WTVC-TV in Chattanooga that the boy, whose name was not immediately being released, was part of a group of kids involved with a camp from Atlanta.Hicks said the incident happened around 1 p.m. EDT Sunday. Hicks said the teen fell overboard and became lodged under the water. Hicks said the teen had on a life preserver and a helmet.Hicks said someone dislodged the boy using a paddle. Hicks said the boyhad a faint heartbeat.
