Description

Non-Witness Narrative by (do not publish name) on 2013-01-01 (okay to publish): Coroner names drowning victim from American River raft incident By Chris Macias cmacias@sacbee.com Published: Sunday, Jul. 8, 2012 – 10:59 am | Page 2B The Sacramento County coroner on Wednesday identified a man who drowned Tuesday afternoon in the American River after attempting to swim to his raft. The Sacramento Fire Department’s water rescue team recovered the body of William Lake, 53, at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the American River near Northgate Boulevard. According to a department spokesman, an onlooker attempted to help as Lake struggled to swim to his small raft but was unable to keep Lake afloat due to the strong current and Lake’s weight. Lake was not wearing a life jacket and the department deemed his raft as unsafe for floating down the river.
