The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office, including search and rescue personnel, responded the area of the river between Shoup Bridge along U.S. Highway 93 and the town of Salmon just after 5 p.m. Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said Thomas Harr, of Salmon, was in a small inflatable catamaran-type boat. At some point, Harr became separated from the boat and drowned. Harr’s drowning was witnessed by others that were on the river with him. He was not wearing a life vest, Bowerman said.
