Authorities searching for missing kayaker in Feather River By: Matt Wreden, Action News The sheriff’s office said on Sunday, around 3 p.m., they were contacted about a person who had gone missing on the Feather River. The missing person, who has been identified as Jason Stingle, 43, of Redmond, Washington, was with a group of kayakers and was finishing the last part of the kayaking trip when Stingl slipped on a rock and fell into the water between Kellog Ravine and Devils Canyon. Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue responded and began searching for Stingl. Search efforts are continuing, and Stingl remains missing. Kayaker who vanished in Northern California river has been missing for days By Amanda Bartlett, Senior Reporter, SFGATE.COM May 29, 2024 Authorities are still searching for a man who disappeared into a Northern California river over Memorial Day weekend. Jason Stingl, 43, of Redmond, Washington, was with a group of kayakers nearing the end of their trip along the Feather River in Butte County last Sunday when he “slipped on a rock and fell into the water” somewhere between Kellogg Ravine and Devils Canyon, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Search and rescue efforts were launched that afternoon, with a helicopter deployed by the sheriff’s office combing the area from the sky, but they were unable to find Stingl.
