Description

WSGS Update: Tragic kayaking incident Sunday: A 38 year-old man drowned after he and his teenage daughter were swept into the undertow while crossing a low-head dam on the North Fork of the Kentucky River near the Woodland Park bridge. His body was later recovered by emergency crews. The daughter’s cries for help were heard by nearby witnesses and she was rescued by first responders. After receiving treatment at Hazard ARH, she was released. The identities of the father and daughter haven’t been made public yet. Low-head dams are structures that can pose a significant threat to river users, including kayakers, canoeists, and swimmers. WSGS Update: Tragic kayaking incident Sunday in Hazard.
