In a meeting today with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Agency officials asked me to approach American Whitewater’s membership and affiliates and ask for help. The BLM would like your assistance in managing recreation. Specifically, the Agency would like us to compile answers to the following questions. We will share these answers with the Agency at the BLM ‘s National Recreation Forum in January 2004.
QUESTION 1: What are your current views of CURRENT CONDITIONS regarding…
- Recreation Policy
- Recreation Uses
- Recreation Conflicts
- Possibilities for working with the Agency and other organizations in the future.
QUESTION 2: Think about a time when you worked with an organization to support recreation in your comunity. Then share a story with us about that time:
- What was the background?
- What made it a great moment?
- What circumstances made it possible?
- Did anyone else contribute to making that a great moment?
- What was your role in this?
QUESTION 3: List and describe three guiding principles for the Agency to use to maintain the health of the land and provide recreation experiences.
