CONGRATULATIONS NATHAN GALBREATH!

Nathan Galbreath called American Whitewater several months ago inquiring about opportunities to assist us on a volunteer basis with legal help.  Nathan’s offer came just before the USFS made a precedent setting decision to maintain the ban on paddling the Headwaters of the Chattooga River in NC, SC and GA.  We gave Nathan a call about the project and he was immediately interested and enthusiastic to help. Nathan attended school at Furman University in South Carolina before becoming an attorney, and regularly paddled the Chattooga River.  He had a natural connection to the river, was eager to help, and had the perfect skill set along with the solid backing of the law firm he works for, Patton Boggs LLP.  In short, he was the perfect person for the job.

Since those early conversations, Nathan has proved himself to be an invaluable asset and friend to AW and the greater river community.  His work on the Chattooga will help repeal the USFS decision, thereby eliminating a precedent that would encourage public land managers to ban uses like boating, angling, and swimming on rivers in order to favor other users.  Nathan is among our newest volunteers and has already tackled an issue of National significance.  We are confident that Nathan and Patton Boggs are providing the best legal assistance available and are deeply appreciative of their support.  Beyond that, Nathan is a great guy to work with.

Thanks again to Nathan Galbreath and all of our other great volunteers!
