Washington’s newest kayak school Fluid Adventures kicked off the start of the spring boating season with a party at the Harmon Brewery in Tacoma. The evening began with a set by Kyle Kovalik, local guitarist and long-time supporter of AW. Brian Smith then showed his video of his recent first descent in India, and the evening closed out with tunes from local band The Dickens.

Chris Totten, co-founder of Fluid Adventures, has been an enthusiastic supporter of AW’s access and conservation efforts in Washington State. At the end of the evening Fluid Adventures donated the proceeds of a raffle that raised $462 to provide continued support of AW’s regional access and conservation efforts. In addition to this financial contribution, Chris has been an active participant in workshops regarding the future of access and recreational opportunities on the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River (see news link). By contributing the perspective of a local business owner Chris has been instrumental in helping us demonstrate the economic opportunities created by protecting watersheds and enhancing opportunities for outdoor recreation along rivers.

We thank Chris for his contributions and look forward to next year’s party.
