A Huge Essay Contest For Juniors

American Whitewater and the Academy of Huge Experiences are proud to announce a $5,000 academic scholarship to the kayak high school.  The scholarship contest is open to any whitewater kayaker under the age of eighteen.  The winners must submit an essay describing a personal river experience.  A panel of faculty from Huge Experiences will evaluate each essay for both style and content. The panel will look for writing that is creative, clear, articulate and logically organized.

 

All entries must be submitted electronically to Michael@amwhitewater.org prior to August 8, 2004. 

 

THE RULES

  • Entrant must be thirteen to eighteen years old.

·        To avoid disqualification, a cover sheet MUST include: your name and address; your e-mail address; the name and address of your high school; and your current grade level.

·        Essay must be no fewer than 800 and no more than 1,500 words in length, and must be double-spaced.

·        One entry per student, please.

·        Essay must be solely the work of the entrant.

·        Essay must be received no later than August 8, 2004.

·        Decisions of the judges are final.

·        All entries become the property of American Whitewater and Huge Experiences and will not be returned.

·        The Winner and all other participants will be notified via e-mail and/or by mail by August 15, 2004.
