Jason Robertson, current Acting Executive Director and former National Policy Director, has been promoted to Managing Director of American Whitewater. As Managing Director, Robertson will occupy a new senior position within the organization dedicated to managing internal financial growth and program administration.

“After a very successful term as Acting Executive Director, Jason is a perfect fit for this new position,” said incoming Executive Director Mark Singleton. “He brings a proven ability to represent AW’s river stewardship policies and build on the organizational strengths which he expanded during his term at the helm of the organization. I greatly look forward to working with him.”

Prior to joining American Whitewater six years ago, Jason worked with the Environmental Protection Agency (US-EPA) as a Program Manager for five years on new chemical and pesticide registration issues. Before being named American Whitewater National Policy Director, Jason was American Whitewater’s Access Director.

While Jason’s work is important to him, he says that “the real reward for me is the knowledge that I’m fighting every day to protect rivers throughout the globe that I’ve had the great fortune to kayak, canoe, and raft through since I first started paddling 20 years ago. It’s magical knowing that future generations will have the same opportunities I had to explore, have grand adventures, and return home safely with a wealth of stories and memories.”
