The Styrofoam Cup is back!  Warren Wilson College (WWC) is again hosting the Southeastern Intercollegiate slalom and rodeo championships.  This year WWC is holding the 7th Styrofoam Cup in conjunction with the 37th Southeastern Wildwater Championships. The 2005 Styrofoam Cup will be held April 23 and 24, 2005 at the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC) near Bryson City, NC.

This venue includes ample parking, excellent spectating venues,  reliable water, and facilities in which to conduct the raffle and award ceremonies.  The two-day event will include a slalom race, freestyle through a rapid exhibition rodeo competition, wildwater classic race, and Boater-X race through the falls of the Nantahala River.  So come on out and join us for some wild, wet, and crazy fun!  Although we are geared toward encouraging intercollegiate paddling, this is an open race, so EVERYONE is welcome!!!

But the higher purpose of our event is to help fundraise for American Whitewater (AW) and to support AW’s continued efforts of conserving and restoring our American whitewater rivers.  We are hosting a raffle with all profits donated to AW.  We have some wonderful prizes donated from our sponsors, including the new Liquidlogic Vision 56, so everyone wins! * To purchase raffle tickets, please contact the email below with your name, address, and phone number, or they can be bought on raceday (Saturday), up until the drawing.*  We will be accepting donations of any kind.  So dig deep, donate from the heart, and help us support the very important work of American Whitewater.

I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities in support of our intercollegiate athletes and AW.  Check out our website at  http://www.warren-wilson.edu/~outdoors/styro/styrohome.html. We will have registration packets for download soon, or you can just register the morning of the race.  You are welcome to contact us with any questions you may have.  In the meantime, please spread the word about these special events, and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 828.736.2672 or via email at turbolizard@earthlink.net.  We look forward to seeing you and your guests at the 2005 Styrofoam Cup!
