With the spring season off to a great start in the Pacific Northwest, the Crooked River in Central Oregon has been running for nearly a month attracting boaters from Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. In some years this dam-controlled river doesn’t ever provide boatable flows; more typically it happens on short notice for a few days.
American Whitewater is seeking to take advantage of this opportunity to quantify user experiences and evaluate flow preferences for whitewater recreation. We are asking all paddlers who have run the river this spring to take part in our whitewater survey. The survey is in 4 parts that include: basic information on the individual taking the survey, a survey of flow preferences for the reach from Lone Pine Bridge to Crooked River Ranch, a survey of flow preferences for the reach from Crooked River Ranch to Billy Chinook Reservoir, and few supplemental questions on access and other issues. Results from the survey will provide us with critical information to better represent your interests in future management of this Wild and Scenic River.
A big thanks to the folks at Keen Footwear for providing support for this project.
