We are proud to announce that Alex Zendel is AW’s Volunteer of the Month for July, 2007.  Alex lives in Knoxville, TN, and has been exploring creeks and rivers in the southeast and elsewhere for over a decade.  Thankfully, he has also taken the time to help AW out on a number of projects relating to mapping, the website, and geographical information systems.

Alex has volunteered his considerable talent with mapping and spatial analysis to AW on several important projects over the past five years.  Most recently, Alex has helped our staff with the development of a new soon-to-be-released version of the AW website that features significantly enhanced mapping capabilities.  Alex has also helped the stewardship staff with conservation projects that range from mapping hydro-projects in the southeast, to finding at-risk rivers in inventoried roadless lands across the country.

Paddlers like Alex allow AW to accomplish things that our small staff could not dream of doing alone.  Our appreciation goes out to Alex and all our other awesome volunteers. Thanks!
