With generous support from Smith Sport Optics and Small World Adventures, American Whitewater is hosting a fundraising and membership drive ending on October 1, 2008.
Anyone who joins or renews their AW membership or donates at least $10 to support our river stewardship efforts will be entered in a raffle to win a week long trip in
Since 1954 American Whitewater has been the voice of concerned paddlers nationwide who want our wild rivers protected and restored for ecological and recreational benefits. In recent years American Whitewater’s stewardship efforts have been focused on:
– Protecting Rivers from new hydropower developments
– Protecting our backcountry rivers from development and resource extraction
– Removing outdated and unsafe dams, opening miles of new free flowing rivers
– Cleaning up ancient mining laws and regulations that put resource extraction before environmental protection
– Providing public access to the rivers we cherish
– Ensuring that our rivers are managed properly by federal and state agencies
