First AW River Steward Summit

February 13, 2002

When: Sunday, February 24th from 10 to 2:30
Where: University of Kentucky, site of the NPFF, Lexington, KY
What: American Whitewater’s staff of nationally recognized experts will present the first River Steward Summit for river activists. And it’s FREE! From river conservation and access to initiating and planning a river festival and rodeo judging, this will be a primer for current activists as well as anyone who’s ever wanted to learn how.
We will commence at 10 with a welcome from Executive Director, Risa Shimoda followed by brief introductions from President Barry Tuscano, Eastern Conservation and Access Associate, Kevin Colburn, prominent rodeo boater Sutton Bacon, and Events Director, Michael Phelan.
At 11 the summit will break into individual presentations on conservation, streamkeeping, events organizing and rodeo judging.
Following lunch at noon we will reconvene at 1 for more sessions including river access and wrap up with a feedback session running to 2:30. This should still allow plenty of time for a run on the Elkhorn or those with a long drive to get a good start.
To register beforehand, please contact Nick Lipkowski by email nick@amwhitewater.org or by phone: 301-589-9453.
Registration will also be available at the NPFF on Saturday, February 23.
