March 21, 2002

American Whitewater has announced that it has finalized a $5,000 corporate sponsorship agreements with Watershed for 2002. Manufacturer of ZipDry bags, Watershed’s sponsorship will provide unrestricted funds as part of the AW W.A.V.E. (Working on Access to Venues Everyday) to support American Whitewater’s conservation and access efforts across the U.S.

“This new commitment illustrates one more corporation acknowledging the ongoing work required to improve or maintain the quality of and access to whitewater resources,” notes Risa Shimoda, American Whitewater Executive Director. “Watershed was founded by paddlers, and it is good to know that this industry member is now stepping up as responsible steward for the resources used by the paddling community.”

“Watershed is honored to contribute to the culture that has been our heritage and source of inspiration and personal growth,’ notes Brad Brock, Sales and Marketing Director for Watershed, LLC. “We will be proudly displaying the AW logo on our most popular piece of waterproof luggage, the Ocoee ZipDry Duffel, with the revenue from sales going directly to AW for their programming needs.”

Watershed joins Patagonia, Immersion Research, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Mountain Surf and Extrasport as supporters of American Whitewater’s efforts as the only national organization focusing on protecting whitewater rivers in the United States.
