The City of Boulder is inviting public input on the new management plan proposed for Barker Reservoir and Boulder Creek. The city purchased this hydropower project from Public Service of Colorado. Public Service previously operated this project to generate power. The city of Boulder will likely shift emphasis to municipal water supply with the primary emphasis on storage. As a result, instream flows in Middle and mainstem Boulder Creek will change from past practices.

The public has an opportunity to comment on the new management plan. Visit the web site to download the management plan and/or submit your comments on the future management of Barker Reservoir. American Whitewater will be seeking access to Barker Reservoir for flatwater paddling opportunities as well as protection of instream flows for whitewater recreation.
