It is with the deepest appreciation and respect that American Whitewater accepts a $2,200 donation from the Coosa River Paddling Club. In addition to assisting AW with its conservation and access work, the Coosa River Paddling Club uses its funds to continue its struggle to negotiate recreational and ecologically friendly water releases from the upstream dam operators. This past year AW worked hand in hand with the Coosa River Paddling Club, Southern Trails, Lonnie Carden, Karen Newton and their dedicated band of volunteers to host the Teva Tour at the Coosa Whitewater Festival. With the combined efforts of all involved the event went off like a dream. Despite unusually cool weather for Alabama, the Coosa River Paddling Club hosted an outstanding competition for both professional and amateur competitors. The Coosa Whitewater Festival continued to live up to its reputation for wonderful southern hospitality, great whitewater, and friendly competition. The Coosa River Paddling Club would like to invite paddlers of all disciplines and abilities to the 2003 Coosa Whitewater Festival on May 17th-18th.
