Important Teva Tour Info. For Nationals

Have you participated in the 2002 Teva Tour sanctioned by American Whitewater? Are you interested in competing in one of the most influential kayaking events in the history of the sport? Then you had better check your Teva Tour ranking at: www.americanwhitewater.org/events

Amateurs placing in the following categories, according to earned AW Freestyle points, from each region will be eligible to attend the Teva Whitewater National Championship.

Junior (15) Men & (15) Women
Junior Expert* (10) Men & (10) Women
Beginner (15) Men & (15) Women
Sport (20) Men & (20) Women
Expert (25) Men & (25) Women

*Will have the opportunity to compete in the senior expert class for a chance to earn pro status for 2003.

**Women, C-1,and Masters classes of all abilities are open to any athlete. Qualification is not necessary.

Pro athletes will compete for (40) spots for Men and (40) spots for Women to attend the Championships. When determining a pro athlete’s ranking only the athlete’s top six finishes will be included.

The Teva Whitewater National Championships will be held at the Olympic Whitewater Center on the Ocoee River in Ducktown, TN, October 10-13th.

Invitations to attend the Championships will be e-mailed and phoned out immediately following the Teva Gauley Rolling Rodeo presented by Ace Outdoor Center. Athletes will have 48 hours to respond. If an athlete does not respond within 48 hours, then the opportunity to compete will be passed to the next highest ranked athlete in that category and class.

All athletes irrespective of ranking are invited to attend and compete in the open events at the Nationals. These events include the squirt competition, rafting competition, and the head-to-head race.
