The Herald-Zeitung reported on September 28, 2002 that “Comal County Judge Danny Scheel opened a section of the Guadalupe River to tubing and rafting Friday.” The article continued “The stretch of the river from the first crossing on River Road down to Loop 337 was opened to the public after officials determined it was safe for recreation.”
