American Whitewater wants YOU! AW needs new members and looks forward to seeing existing members again. We’re throwing a FREE cookout this Saturday night at Tallulah Gorge State Park “Boater Camping Area” (next to the State Park campground.) This is for members in commemoration of the five-year anniversary of releases on the Tallulah. Free burgers & dogs grilled to perfection. Free beverages*. Movies projected on big screen including fresh footage taken Saturday at Oceana. AW sweatshirts, shorts, rash guards, and gear available to buy. Cookout begins around 6:30pm.
Camping on-site is $4 per person paid to the park. The food & beverage are a free “thank you” provided completely by private donors for new & existing members. So, come out and show your support for AW — there’s no better time to renew that expired membership or sign on for another great year!
[* Oh yeah, the disclaimer… Beer is technically not allowed on Georgia State Parks property. We have been graciously afforded a little flexibility here as long “as we keep it low key.” Meaning consume responsibly, keep it out of sight in cups and over 21 only on any adult beverage.]
American Whitewater is fighting daily for your opportunity to boat in more places more often. Your membership supports projects underway RIGHT NOW. Including local projects such as increasing the number of Tallulah releases, maintaining Tallulah releases permit-free, creating scheduled releases on the Cheoah & Nantahala Cascades and opening up the Chattooga headwaters to legal boating. American Whitewater is protecting your right to paddle wherever boats are floated… And a few more places where boats will float soon.
Bring camping gear, a chair and a few chunks of firewood to donate to the bonfire. See you Saturday!
