Assistant Director
California Hydropower Reform Coalition
Berkeley, California
The California Hydropower Reform Coalition is seeking a full-time assistant
director to work with the coalition director in its downtown Berkeley
office. The CHRC works to restore and enhance California rivers damaged by
hydropower, through collaborative negotiation with hydropower operators and
through state and federal administrative and regulatory processes. The CHRC
Steering Committee includes American Rivers, American Whitewater, California
Outdoors, California Sportfishing Protection Alliance, California Trout,
Foothill Conservancy, Friends of the River, Natural Heritage Institute, and
Trout Unlimited.
Responsibilities
· Coordinate communications between CHRC member groups, state and federal
agencies, other stakeholders, and the public
· Participate in hydropower relicensing proceedings and other policy
initiatives
· Assist in the preparation of grant applications and other fundraising
activities
· Assist in public outreach, education, and press efforts
· Provide administrative support for CHRC steering committee meetings and
coalition business
Qualifications
· BA/BS with two years relevant experience or Masters Degree in natural
resources or public policy field. Specific knowledge of California water
policy and/or energy policy especially helpful.
· Fundraising experience strongly preferred
· Strong analytical, writing and oral communication skills
· Outstanding organizational skills, including standard office software
