The 2003 Deerfield River Festival is rapidly approaching, and your help is needed! This year’s event promises to be the best to date, and we can use all the help we can get! The 2003 Deerfield River Festival will take place on August 2, 2003 in the field across from Zoar Outdoor on Rt. 2 in Charlemont, MA. This festival takes approximately 75 people to run, and with only 2 full-time staff and a handful of event planning volunteers we can always use more help. This is where you can make a difference!

Show the boating world you appreciate the work AW is doing for rivers and boaters everywhere. Give yourself the gift of the satisfaction and pride you’ll get knowing that a successful 2003 Festival was made possible by your donation of 2-4 hours of your time. Get a buddy or a bunch of buddies and sign up as a team. It’s a great way to spend time with your friends and volunteer at the same time. AW will give all volunteers a gift of a special, volunteers only T-shirt.

Volunteers are needed starting Thursday for the following areas:
Set Up (Thurs-Sat)
Set Up Volunteer Party (Fri)
Front Gate Admissions (Sat)
T-Shirt Sales (Sat)
Stage Management (Sat)

This year, all volunteers are invited to attend the AW volunteer ice cream social on Friday night. This event will take place at the pavilion at Zoar Outdoor following the 6pm showing of Ken Whiting’s new instructional video “Playboating with Ken Whiting.” At the party, volunteers can meet up with friends for ice cream, chat with the event organizers about job responsibilities, and get registered for volunteering at the event. Those not attending the ice cream social will need to check in with American Whitewater on Saturday at the AW booth prior to volunteering. Upon checking in and registering with AW, you will receive your free AW Volunteer T-shirt.

If you are interested in volunteering at the 2003 Deerfield River Festival, please contact Chris Towles at American Whitewater: chris@amwhitewater.org or (828) 252-0728. When you contact Chris, Please include the following information:

Some jobs and times fill up fast, so be sure to get in touch as soon as possible to book your spot. Once you get in contact with AW, we will respond with a job and a time slot for you to confirm. Upon confirming, you will receive a confirmation letter from AW with all the information you will need to volunteer.

Volunteers are the most important part of this event, and we could not put it on without them. We are truly grateful for all of the efforts put forth by volunteers at this critical AW fundraiser. Please pass this information along to friends and ask them to volunteer a little of their time too. If someone is interested in volunteering, please encourage them to contact me at 828-252-0728 or chris@amwhitewater.org. Volunteers are the lifeblood of American Whitewater –be one.
