Clif Bar and American Whitewater are happy to announce Gold Country Paddlers and the Willamette Kayak and Canoe Club as the first recipients of $500 grants for the Flowing Rivers Campaign.
Gold Country Paddlers grant monies will go to support their work to improve the Greenwood Creek river access trail. The trail is located 4 miles Northwesst of the town of Coloma, CA between State Highway 49 and the South Fork of the American River near the confluence of Greenwood Creek.
The Willamette Kayak and Canoe Club grant will replace aging safety equipment used in their annual Safety Weekend, which provides river safety training to the community through the efforts of volunteer intstructors.
Both clubs are long standing American Whitewater Affiliate Club members, and each grant represents support for their work to continue AW’s mission by impacting access, conservation and/or safety on rivers.
Grant deadlines are approaching for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, and clubs that fall into those regions should get their grant applications in to Ben Van Camp at ben@amwhitewater.org by July 3rd. Recipients of the 2nd regional grants will be announced at the Deerfield River Festival on the evening of August 2nd.
