TVA contacted American Whitewater to alert us to a unanticipated recreational opportunity on the Upper and Middle Ocoee (TN). Due to a maintanence drawdown of Blue Ridge reservoir upstream on the Ocoee, and thanks to TVA’s decision to hold back and release that water through Ocoee Dams #’s 2 and 3, the following release schedule will be provided for all of the month of september. Weekends: Standard Release Schedule.Weekdays: Upper Ocoee will be running at a standard recreational release volume from 8:30 am until at least 4:30 pm, Middle Ocoee will be running 2000 cfs plus some additional natural inflow for roughly the same schedule.TVA will be providing American Whitewater weekly updates in case they need to prolong or shorten the drawdown and its associated recreational benefits.
