The Gauley at Flood Friday Evening Update!

September 5, 2003

Yes, the Gauley is huge today!

The normal flow target on the Gauley of the dam release and inflow from Meadow Creek is a maximum of 4800 cfs during Gauley season; however Friday Sept 5th is washed out by heavy rain this week and the flow will be 15,000 from the Dam all day to save the Saturday commercial rafting operations. The raft companies are working with the Corps to figure the best senerio for Saturday.

Here is the information on flows for Saturday Sept 6th on the Gauley River.

Summersville Dam will release 2,000cfs from 9am till 4pm. We
believe the Meadow River will be about 1,600cfs for a combined
total of about 3,600cfs. At 4pm they will ramp up until they reach
3,800cfs for the overnight flow from the dam plus Meadow River .

Saturday Flows at :
7am 3200cfs
8am 2300cfs
9am 2000cfs
4pm 2800cfs
5pm 3800cfs
Sunday flows at:
6am 2800cfs
2pm 3800cfs

Monday flows at:

They will remain at 2800cfs until they return to normal drawdown curve.
