Dylan King Volunteer of the Month

October 20, 2003

Every once in a while organization’s like AW find in there midst some of the most dedicated and unselfish people in the world.  In 2002, AW found an individual that was willing to work for months with no pay, subside on Clif Bars for indeterminable amounts of time, and during events work 20 hour shifts with no break.

Dylan King from Asheville, NC and originally from Montague, MA has been that person.  He was instrumental in the success of the 2002 Teva Tour and National Championships; in 2003 he drove 1,000 miles to help implement the AW Deerfield River Festival, and most recently he volunteered at the AW Gauley River Festival for three days straight.  More often than not his boat never even touches the water despite the fact that he is an accomplished play and creek boater.

AW wants to thank Dylan for the time and effort that he has given to American Whitewater.  His time has left indelible marks everywhere he has helped.  Wish him luck as he finishes his Master’s Degree in Education at Western North Carolina University.
