Last year lake levels receded much closer to long-term norms, so beaches have been exposed, though many have lost a lot of sand. For example, Wind Point (Racine) now has mostly very rocky shoreline. Many jetties have been damaged, and may be even more dangerous than when they were intact (since they now have highly irregularly jumbled slabs of concrete).
I'm leaving the remainder of this alert intact, both as a reminder and for the eventuality that levels may rise again at some future date.

It is important to note that (just like with rivers) changing water levels can affect viability and safety.
'The water level of Lake Michigan continues to rise after generally staying below long term average values for over a decade.'
While water levels were low, there were wide sandy beaches, and (where present) jetties were plainly obvious above the surface. With present high levels, beaches are much narrower or (in many cases) non-existent, and many jetties are now submerged!
Many beaches which (in the past) were excellent for launching and landing may now be hazardous. Notably, for Southern Wisconsin, this affects Wind Point in Racine, where there is now no beach, and waves pound against huge boulders which formerly were well-up on the shore. Until lake levels recede below these record highs, Wind Point (and others) will be a great place to look, but not to launch!
