River Description

A bypass at a dam in town can provide some class I-II diversion for area paddlers. At some flows, at least one or two fair playspots may develop. Could be a worth a look, if you don't mind the rather industrial setting, with Flambeau River Papers on the West/river-right (and using the hydropower of the main-channel dam), and an (apparent) waste-water treatment plant on the East/river-left.

We would also note: This is the terminus of the Tuscobia-Park Falls Trail, one of the state's great Rail Trails (former railroads, repurposed into multi-purpose recreational use). While many rail trails are restricted to non-motorized traffic (bikes and pedestrians), many parts of this trail are open to ATV/UTV traffic (and snowmobiles in winter), and equestrian (horses). There is, therefore, a general disclaimer that 'bicycling is not recommended', since the surface is not specifically designed/groomed for that purpose, thus 'off-road' bikes (or any bike with wider tire/tread) would be more suitable.

Wave/hole

Distance: 0.17 mi
Wave/hole

Very nearly half-way down this short sections, an apparent wave/hole (noticeable on aerial/satellite view) may provide some good play, though we cannot tell (from those views alone) whether there may be sufficient eddies for easy repeat play. (And, that would likely be somewhat dependent upon how much flow is being put through the dam gates at the head of this bypass channel.)

Bridge Piers

Distance: 0.25 mi
Bridge Piers

A couple of smaller worker/pedestrian/pipe crossings exist (upstream of this location) before coming to a vehicular bridge which (from satellite views) appears to have footings/bridge-piers into the flow, thus causing some turbulence. It is possible there may be some areas of interest to work or to play. (I.E., to practice whitewater maneuvers in good flow, such as eddy turns, peel-outs, perhaps squirt moves and/or attainments, and, if lucky, perhaps even something to surf at some flow?)
