Ran the river today and the big log which has been balanced on the rock at the head of the first island has finally been washed away by hurricane Irene. It also took out the tree which the fishing club's 'no trespassing' sign was attached to. No more cable and sign.

Now there is a tree at the head of the second island (just past the second handicapped observation platform). It blocks the right side of the island. We were able to sneak it against the right bank today (8.25') but that line might not be available at lower levels. The left channel around the island has a log across at the end of the island. portage on the island if the sneak is closed.

Ran this section on May 17, 2009. Discovered a strainer completely blocking river well above the first island, near the 'main' parking on the gravel road, about halfway down the run. It is possible to portage on river left.

12/28/2008 there is a strainer blocking the river left line around the first island (usually the more fun line). Be careful, because boat scouting this one is tough
