Mettawee

11/20/2021 - ~4.7' on the gauge - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZXmx5aEhW0 - First rapid in video is the first major drop, second rapid is the second major drop (with dangerous sieve on river left - See description/low water pics for more info). Third rapid in video is 'triple drop'. Last rapid in video is the final drop (beware of cave behind the curtain on river right) Everyone in party decided to run river left lines to avoid a potentially nasty hole/cave on right.

Mettawee River's 'FIrst Drop' @ 4.1'

This is a river level pic of triple drop at a medium low level. You can't see the ugly hole at the bottom in this picture but know that if you are to go too far to the bottom left (river right) of this picture you will get eaten.

The second drop at minimum flow since it changed this spring. The vertical slab in the center of the drop has a slot about 5' long, 2 1/2' wide, and 8' deep just to the river left of it that drops out of sight into the rock pile. It's dry at this level. The smaller horizontal slab in the right side of the drop has about 90% of the flow going under it at this level. Both of these hazards are pretty well hidden at normal paddling levels. Pretty scary stuff. I won't even be sneaking this drop anymore!
A slightly different view showing the vertical slab a little better. The death slot is sort of visible to the river left of the slab.
A lousy picture from pretty much on top of the vertical slab, looking down into the death slot. The bright area in the left center of the photo is foam in the bottom of the slot. In the top left corner of the picture, you can sort of see the main flow backing up into a little pothole and disappearing under the horizontal slab.
