I was in that party and would like to say that I told several people, I apologize that not everyone in the boating community heard the news. When one puts on a river beta is a wonderful tool, however we don't always have all the information which is why we make our own decisions to run drops based on our view of a rapid.
We found these trees in the last big drop above the takeout. They are hard to see from above. The drop is immediately below 2 sets of powerlines crossing the river. Once you enter the drop, there is no way to avoid the trees. They were INTENTIONALLY cut into the river recently, see photo # 2. Scout and carry on the right.
Yep, they were intentionally cut. The run out of the drop is visible in the left side of the photo.
