2. Soda Springs to Deadline Falls

Log in to add an alertIn pinball, there is a log in the far right passage after house rock. It is caught on a rock and cuts across the channel about 4-5 inches underwater.
As of mid-September 2022 the massive log has been removed and there are no river-wide obstacles on segment 2, Horseshoe to Gravel Bin.
There is a strainer - large log - across the rapid of Frogger 3. Just down river from Horseshoe Bend. Unavoidable. It flipped our raft on 6/24/2022. All 5 of us in the boat dumped and miraculously made it in under the log without getting trapped. BUT this strainer/log has potential to pin or trap rafts and swimmers... especially as river levels drop. We fortunately where in a group of rafts who helped pick us out of the river and our gear. Of the 4 rafts in our group - 2 got stuck on top and had to shimmy off, 1 almost flipped, 1 did flip (as stated above).
It's unscoutable, no obvious eddy and no alternative route. Recommend avoiding this section of the river until the strainer/log is removed.
On 10/23/2021 2mi after Horseshoe bend put in there is a killer log. At the time my friend and I ran it it was at about 3000cfs. At that flow, a skilled enough kayaker will be able to pop over it, but any mistake can leave you trapped. Luckily on the side closest to the boulder you can get squeezed under it. There was no obvious eddy out.
