Twisp
Buttermilk Creek to town of Twisp
Alerts
Log in to add an alertPeople have been running the Twisp with some regularity for the past week or so. As of May 1st, with flows hovering around 700cfs, the section from Little Bridge to Lower Poorman had no real wood issues. However, the run is not totally clean either, with a few trees spanning 50-80% of the channel. These could all be reasonably passed without portage, even for small rafts. Numerous logs and freshly cut trees line the banks, particularly below the residential bridge about 5 - ish miles up the Twisp River Road, where a recent and unfortunate structure fire occurred this spring. A lot of this wood could come into play with rising water levels.
For those interested in running to the Methow confluence, the beavers have fallen more river-spanning poplars a couple hundred meters below the fish trap. There is a channel river right that is skootchable in a hard-shell kayak that works around the obstacles. Another log exists beneath the highway 20 bridge which was runnable at 700cfs for a kayak. The right side holds an additional forked branch, so probably best run left of center.
Cheers!
