If you're planning on running Glade Creek in Raleigh make sure you leave enough time and daylight for scouting and portaging. There is some wood in nearly every rapid. We had 4 mandatory portages, one mandatory monkey crawl, and two pins on logs. What normally takes us 1:45-2 hours took 3. When you go take a saw, a rope and your 'A' game.

I'd call it Class 4-5. There are two big falls, one next to the road, that are a bit stiff with a lot of water. The long, smooth bedrock slides are fun, but a little intimidating if you don't know what's ahead.

Hole is a little tough at bottom.

May require quicktime 6 to play, in MP4 format.

Hey there, I lost a paddle on this run. Its a Pothole Slasher, and has my name on it. Lost it on Sunday april 28 about a mile above the take out. There is a reward for it. Email me at Badswim@hotmail.com

This is the Rapid that swallowed my Pothole Slasher Paddle.
This falls is just above the take-out parking lot. Its a three tiered drop with an 8 foot ledge, a 14 foot shallow ledge, and a final slide.

If you don't want to run it, well, its roadside and the beer coolers in your truck are within sight.
