Meadow (Gauley River trib.)

As of this posting (10/7/22) there is a large log causing an extremely dangerous sieve in one of the last major rapids on the upper meadow.there was a fatality here 10/3 at approximately 2500cfs but yesterday at 700cfs it was still very much a hazard. For people familiar with the river the standard line is often to boof center and head left but this wood makes that move much harder and more dangerous. There is an easy and safe line far river left but only if you are aware ahead of time. Unfortunately despite being quite large this sieve is very difficult to see until you are entering the rapid. The rapid is perhaps a half mile downstream of Natural Weir and the only distinctive feature to key off of is a large conastoga-like rock river center. You will want to be heading left upstream of this rock.
