An instant classic prone to being chocked with strainers. Take the time to check for wood where possible before putting on. Otherwise enjoy the fast boogie water between great drops and be ready to jump out in a hurry if there is a strainer.
While there is no guage, locals will call the Remsen Country Bakery to get a visual. Be sure to thank them by buying something when you go. (315) 831-2559

So Cincinnati is a go. You want to put in at the top bridge right before the first drop, which is a clean 18/20 footer with a lil hole at the bottom and a lot of aerated water. Then you have some class 3+ boogie time, some strainers, some footbridges you have to either crawl under or get out around. Then you come to the first real class 4 drop, the lead*in goes under a bridge and ends with a 6/8 foot ledge with a tricky move, pool after so you can collect your shit. Then some more class 3 boogie. Hard to catch with levels but more water = more fun. Be Safe.
An American Whitewater member reported an access problem here in October 2000. The member reported that a landowner strung barb wire across the river and built a very low footbridge that makes the river impassable at higher levels. Both are reported as being very dangerous obstacles. The creek comes up quick following hard rains and runs fairly often.

I question the use of the Independence Gauge for this creek. The Black River Hawkinsville gauge or the Fish Creek Gauge are both closer to the Cincinatti drainage. It jumps up quickly, and drops even quicker. Catch it hours after a hard day rain.
group of 10 boaters ran yesteray 6/12 at primo flow, lots of strainers/2 low footbridges, other than that Fire Up the Brown.
heres the creek at a bone dry level almost..i pretty much see it everyday..dont let this waterless slad of rock fool you
