The recreational release drawdown of Northwood Lake is scheduled for Saturday, Oct 21, 2023. If you have scouted the river and identified strainers, please update this alert panel and group websites. Based on the 2022 conditions, there is at least one river-wide strainer and two partial strainers that will present trouble to boaters. It is also likely that new strainers are present. Use caution and scout blind corners of the river.

River wide strainer in the towards the bottom of the first class IV rapid. Current is moving pretty good when you get to the strainer but its Class I-II water leading up to it and there are plenty of micro eddies along the shoreline. You do need to get out and walk around the strainer but it is easy to spot with plenty of time to eddy out if you are paying attention
