River Description
2003-06-01 Jeff Stiegman provides:
'There is a nice little spot at the railroad trestle (just downstream of Dexter Huron Metropark).
There is a nice surf wave about 300 yds upstream from Zeeb Rd. (about 2 miles upstream from Delhi).
Both have reasonably good surf waves and stern squirt potential at flows above 500 cfs. The local clubs use these spots for instruction.
The rapids at Delhi offers great eddy practice for beginners with a half dozen tight eddies and small drops spread along its 150 yd length. But it gets pretty boney below 400 cfs.
Tubbs (3/4 mile below Delhi) washes out into a series of near river wide wave trains above 800 cfs.
'RStorz' provides:
' Delhi Rapids right at Delhi park off of Huron River Drive:
a nice wave up at the top and then about 150 yard or so of whitewater, some decent eddylines near the bottom, although I am reluctant to play in them because of rumors of re-bar near the bridge.
A little further downstream is another play spot called Tubbs Rapids
a river wide drop in the river[with] really nice eddylines and a couple little waves to surf.'

Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportWhen interpreting the gauge reading, you may need to go to the gauge page and look at the graph. The gauge is located below Barton and Argo dams, whereas the stretch paddled is above them. The gauge reading can fluctuate widely based on the manipulation of the dams, and the level will not be reflective of the flow in the stretch paddled. If you look at the graph, you can see what the actual trend of the river is, vs. the short spikes or drops caused by a few hours of opening or closing at the dam.
