06. Stone Bridge to Salida(Salida Town)
Trip Reports
Log in to add a reportThe only III with this flow from Stone Bridge to the F Street takeout was the boat chute at the dam! This was my first time through and I was expecting to have to portage. The chute was a very pleasant surprise and was very enjoyable. My only suggestion is to keep right in the chute to avoid the little back eddies at the drops.
~3000cfs. There is a boat chute on river left with three consecutive drops with a nice sized eddy at the bottom. *Do not* run the dam itself!
Stone Bridge put in
Salida has the best play hole ive ever been to. this spring the the top hole was rebuilt. all hole moves can be done there. i think the best place to loop is left of center at a little lower flows. that is were i had a loop so big i saw the bridge.
the bottom hole is fun too. it is flushier than the top hole. at lower leves loops can be done on the left. at higher water the right side becomes a small wave that is sorta like the 3rd wave at Rock Island.

The park in Salida offers a great place to hang out and easy access to the water. Looking upstream from the F Street Bridge
Tie the bungy to a rock in the river & the other end attachs via an easy release hook to the board. Turn the board crossways to the current and let it carry you downstream while the bungy stretchs. Level the board and have a surf.
