Bonniwell Road to Highland Road (1.2 - 2.4 miles)
After Highland Road and after passing most of the woods beyond it, you come to a bit of rocky outcropping. (Look for it! It is easy to miss!) Almost immediately beyond there is (always, so far) a major deadfall snag blocking most of the stream. Probably a good thing! Just downstream lies the first (electric) smooth-wire fence surrounding a cow pasture. It is often possible to paddle/pole/pull/push (in your boat) over/around/through the floating logjam on far right, to slide down a short (maybe 3-4') steep slide into a small hole. You want to stop your forward progress, because the fence is immediately downstream. It is usually possible to press flat to your back-deck and slide under without contacting the wire. (You may wish to reach forward with your paddle from underneath the wire, lifting it to contact the bottom wire. If the fence is electrified, you will likely get just a mild-to-medium 'tingle', warning you not to grab or contact with your face or hands as you pass. If you get no tingle, you may wish to try a quick back-of-the-hand 'bump' (from underneath, to again ensure no tingle) before you think about grabbing it to lift it to pass under.
