NIce Intermediate class II. Ran on 10/06/2018 at approximately 2.60 ft. in perception swiftwater kayaks. My girlfriend and I are still learning how to read the water having only played on class I and one other class II the Middle Yough both great runs to learn on. I did take a swim on this stretch of river but not due to it being a technically difficult rapid more so due to inexperience and that I was running too close to my partner and wasn't able to read the best route until I took the wrong one lol. I guess everyone gets dumped at some point and that's a learning experience as well. A couple pointers for those planning on running this stretch of river there is no cell service in the area so make sure you screenshot directions before you leave to the take out at Markelton and from there to the put in at Rockwood. Plus directions home. We had to just kind of blindly follow one lane roads through corn fields following the lay of the land trying to stay close to the river to find the put in after dropping off the takeout vehicle. Also be aware that there is a PA Fish & Boat Commission official that regularly monitors the park at Markleton so make sure you have your PA Fish & Boat Commission launch permit stickers on your watercraft if exiting river left at the launch area or alternatively exit river right under the bridge to avoid any hassles. There is a 150 dollar fine for not having the stickers so keep that in mind.

Ive never ran from Salisbury down to Meyersdale but have ran everything else down river. Meyersdale to Garrett is a pretty calm relaxing paddle if is what you are into then you are in luck. If your lucky and go when the river is up you may be able to surf in a few holes. Not bad great for people not into whitewater. From Garrett to Rockwood there is some nice rapids at the beginning for then it drops to flat water for a good while. Some spots if you are a floater you may get blown back upstream. Overall really easy with some playboating ops. From Rockwood down to Markleton is a lot more enjoyable if you dont like to paddle a lot of flat water. At higher levels big bouncy waves and you can find that this section can offer a good bit to play around with as well. I ran this the other day at 2.26 and it was low but still runnable. I plan to run this when its high to play in the double falls section. Should make nice play holes
