Our Work

Volunteers play a vital role at American Whitewater. With a small dedicated staff we increase our footprint many times by relying on passionate volunteers to help move forward our mission.

Volunteer

AW’s original purpose since 1954 has been to distribute information among its Affiliate Clubs. AW’s relationship with local clubs has provided the backbone for much of the river conservation and access work it accomplishes throughout the country. Over 100 clubs are now AW Club Affiliates and they are all doing great work on your behalf. If you don’t belong to a club, consider joining one of the organizations found on this page.

Events

American Whitewater holds four official festivals each year. These events provide an opportunity to bring our community together, celebrate our river stewardship successes, and to raise funds through membership that will propel our work.

Deerfield Festival

August 2, 2025

Gauley Festival

Sept 18-21 2025

Feather Fest

Sept 26-Oct 2 2025
