Attendees at SeaGnar in Woodinville.

Born in 2013 from the shared passion for whitewater paddling in the greater Seattle area, SeaGnar has grown into a beloved film festival drawing paddlers from throughout the Pacific Northwest, uniting “weekend warriors” and dedicated “soul boaters” alike. Their mission goes beyond the rapids, aiming to unite individuals and channel their shared enthusiasm into positive action, supporting both the sport and the rivers that sustain it.

The SeaGnar Film Festival showcases a carefully curated selection of amateur films that capture the essence of the whitewater lifestyle. But it’s not just about the films; audience participation is key! So gather your friends and be ready to cheer for your favorites.

Each year, SeaGnar proudly partners with American Whitewater, a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and restoring America’s whitewater resources and enhancing opportunities to enjoy them safely. Through advocacy, education, and conservation efforts, American Whitewater ensures that future generations can experience the thrill and beauty of whitewater rivers, just like the filmmakers and festival attendees.

So pick up your camera, grab some tunes that might raise your parents’ eyebrows, and join us for an unforgettable experience while supporting a worthy cause. Together, we can celebrate our love for whitewater, honor the rivers that flow through our lives, and ensure their beauty and adventure endure for generations to come.

The focus shifts from year to year, but each SeaGnar film festival aims to raise money for a good cause while supporting as many local businesses as possible. So get some footage together, add some music your parents wouldn’t like, and let’s have a good time!
