American Whitewater is pleased to recognize the outstanding volunteer contributions of Patrick Tooley, Ken Ransford, and Jay Kenney this month.

Patrick, Ken, and Jay have served as AW's expert advisors on River Access in Colorado and have helped develop AW's analysis and position on Colorado's House Bill 1188, which seeks to clarify the Right of Navigation in Colorado.

Patrick Tooley, a Denver lawyer and 15 year associate of Colorado Whitewater, has dedicated countless hours to the analysis, interpretation, and assessment of HB 1188, the River Outfitters Viability Act.  Patrick has worked to draft language that helps improve on the legilation and expand the bill to include members of the general paddling public.  He has worked with members of both the House and Senate to discuss the implications of the bill, and to work to amend the bill's language.

Ken Ransford, a CPA and lawyer from Basalt and longtime member of American Whitewater's Board of Directors, has worked with AW staff to review, and stratgize on AW's position on House Bill 1188.  Kens legal analysis, bill revision, and direct legislative advocacy has helped ensure AW's concerns wih HB 1188 are heard by members of both the House and Senate.

Jay Kenney, a longtime supporter of AW's Colorado Stewardship Program and former member of AW's Board of Directors, has offered valuable insight into the legal implications and enforcement of civil and criminal trespass if House Bill 1188 is signed into law.

Together, these guys have been invaluable to AW's staff and have served as strong advocates for the rights of our members and the general public.

Thanks guys!
