American Whitewater would like to recognize Brian Jacobson as our April Volunteer of the Month.

Brian Jacobson has been an integral part of the AW volunteer team working towards resolving the mismanagement of the Upper Chattooga River in the Southeast. Brian is an environmental engineer by profession and has brought an important technical skill-set to the team, assisting with complex data analysis and presentation as well as a rich understanding of the NEPA administrative process. Brian is also extremely knowledgeable of the Chattooga Watershed where he has been paddling for nearly three decades including a number of years as a commercial raft guide.

His on-the-ground knowledge has proven invaluable as we analyze access proposals from the USFS. He was also part of the study group that was allowed to paddle the headwaters for two days in early January 2007. Most recently Brian attended a meeting of the Chattooga Coalition - a fish stocking group that includes the Forest Service - to share a new opportunity to work together on improving the water quality in the Chattooga River. Brian is a pleasure to work with, and we are happy to recognize him as our April Volunteer of the Month.

In recognition of his efforts Brian will be receiving an OuterCore Long-Sleeve Shirt from Kokatat!
