A paddler had a very close call on the day before the Green River RaceĀ in North Carolina. There were two boats already pinned in the drop when a third paddler attempted to run. His boat wrapped and he was pinned underwater. Fortunately a nearby paddler pulled him free. He was under water 3-5 minutes. After they washed through the drop the man was brought ashore where 5 rescue breaths brough him back. He was well enough to hike out of the gorge, but spent the night under observation in the hospital.
